So it’s officially summer! Here in Alaska, we don’t go by calendar dates or seasonal designations to decide when it’s summer. If it’s not winter or the two weeks of fall, it’s summer. Or if we go on vacation to sunnier climes, it’s summer for that length of time. If we ever get to wear a bikini during “summer,” it’s not summer, it’s the apocalypse. So we have to travel for our summers.
My summer started in February in Belize, and continued in late April in Hawaii. That’s all the board short testing time I got, but it was enough time for me to fall in love with Greenlines. The company sent a pair of its shorts for me to try out, and at first I was a little hesitant to agree – I recalled the full afternoon I’d spent shopping for board shorts a few years ago. An afternoon spent in vain; nothing fit right. Everything was either too tight or too ridiculously huge in the waist. Board shorts are supposed to be comfy! I wasn’t sure what to expect from this try-out.
I was pleased to find that the Greenlines shorts are just outstanding. They fit perfectly, exactly true to numbered sizing. A nice low rise keeps things flattering and comfortable. I love the bright and unusual colors. The inseam is quite short so for extended surfing escapades you might want something longer (or am I the only one who gets that surf wax rash on my quads? The ones for dudes are longer; a longer option for women would be welcome although I like the short version for all but surfing); for anything else, these are excellent. I loved the flattering cut, the quality fabric, and the quick-dry attributes. I admit it, I pretty much eschewed bikini bottoms in favor of these board shorts for most of my beach time. Get on board with this idea – you don’t have to worry about shaving or coverage or tan lines or anything, really – you’ll look nice and be ready for anything.
I love these boardies and highly recommend them. From what I can tell from photos, the guy version looks great too, so they’d be a good gift for a dude traveling (or living, imagine that) in warmer climes. I wish there was a better picture of them online but the one above is what you get. Order your regular size.
